Freelance Motion Designer

The Guardian would like to hear from freelance motion designers interested in using their skills to create graphics for a global news organisation. The roles would be on a casual, ad-hoc basis.

There are two main areas we use motion design:

1) Using graphics to open up complex news stories; working with data, maps and visualising information in innovative ways.
2) Creating and applying branding for video series.

It is important you are independent but are also confident in collaborating with fellow motion designers, video producers, journalists and digital designers. A deep understanding of After Effects and animation and design principles are a must. Competency with After Effects expressions, character animation and illustration skills would be beneficial too.

If you'd like to find out more, please email with a short paragraph about your interest in this type of production, a CV (if you have one) and any examples of your work that would be relevant to these roles.

This role is ongoing and only successful candidates will be contacted.

We value and respect all differences in all people (seen and unseen) at the Guardian. We aspire to inclusive working experiences and an environment that reflects the audience we serve, where our people have equal access to career development opportunities, their voices are heard and can contribute to our future. The Guardian actively encourages applications from BAME candidates.
